Ingredients
- 500 g No Added Hormone Beef 4 Star Lean Mince
- 700 g potato
- 1 each brown onion
- 1 tbsp thyme
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 each beef stock cube
- 100 g grated cheese
- 1 bag mixed salad
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the beef mince to the pan and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
- Stir in the thyme and Dijon mustard. Dissolve the beef stock cube in 100ml of hot water and pour into the pan. Let it simmer for 5–7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- While the mince is cooking, peel and slice the potatoes thinly into rounds (about 3 mm thick).
- Layer half of the potato slices on the bottom of the greased baking dish. Spread the cooked beef mixture over the potato layer.
- Place the remaining potato slices neatly on top of the beef mixture to form the top layer. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle grated cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and crispy.
- Serve the boulangère bake hot, accompanied by a side of mixed salad tossed with your choice of dressing.
